Always Sunny & Clear
Sunny & Clear is the name brand of multi-passionate creative, Teresa Magnuson. Living in Ashby, Minnesota, Teresa specializes in surface design and turns her whimsical illustrations into happy fabrics, home decor, and laser-cut gifts for your cabin or getaway.
Her mission is to make you laugh, crack a smile, or bring out the "sunshine."
"I like the idea of taking something ordinary (or pesky) and making it fun...giving it a playful twist."
Teresa turns her sketches into patterns using Adobe Illustrator, and transfers those patterns into fabric or uses her "sunbeam" (aka laser) to engrave into wood. She currently licenses quilt fabric with Clothworks of Seattle, WA and operates her own online shops.
Inspiration for Teresa’s Sunny & Clear brand name derived from growing up in Minnesota, the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes. You could say her designs are inspired by the delight of a sunny day.
Teresa was featured as the 2018 fabric designer for Quilt Minnesota! This collection had a Spring theme, with two color-ways and lots of flora & fauna. Check out the full collection of fabrics, archived at Quilt Minnesota.
Teresa was also featured in 2016 as licensed designer for Quilt MN, in partnership with Clothworks of Seattle. This collection featured a Summer theme of sunfish motifs, campers, and mosquito designs, bringing lake-time charm to fabric lovers across Minnesota.
More About How She Got Started
Teresa grew up with a brain for math and a heart for creating things. When she had to decide on a career, she followed her heart– she got her degree in graphic design and apparel design. At that point, she could design and sew anything from fabric. But with the internet making its debut, she chose to focus on the marketing side of things and worked as a graphic designer for most of her career.
With an affinity for industrial-design and special effects, she spent sixteen years as Art Director where she engineered wicked-cool sports graphics for colleges and pro teams.
Currently she works as a web designer/front end developer where her day job consists of creating custom websites and uncanny (but effective) graphics for digital marketing channels. Through Sunny & Clear, her side-gig, a more playful aesthetic sneaks into her work, especially her fabric and laser-cut designs.
